At 1500ft (460m) above sea level Cherry Tree is situated high in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of the village of Nenthead. Right on the C2C cycle route near the summit and about 3 miles from the Pennine Way long distance walking route at Garrigill, Nenthead boasts its own cycle repair shop, a pub and a community shop.
A wealth of footpaths and Open Access land afford ample opportunity to explore the local area; listen for the bubbling call of the lapwing and look out for curlew, oystercatchers and as dusk draws in, the ghostly barn owl. This was once a busy mining district and the Nenthead Mines are open on selected days throughout the year - or visit the Lead Mining Centre at Killhope just over the hill in Weardale.
This website is still under development. Hellen has realised that in the 21st century she needs to advertise her great and homely B&B on the Internet. So, we are developing this site. Soon it will have photos of all of the rooms and information about what is available around Alston Moor and Nenthead.
The B&B however, is fully open and a great stay and breakfast awaits you and your friends. Please ring Hellen directly and tell her you found her site or if you prefer email us - the people helping Hellen to "get online"
We look forward to meeting you all.
